This simple to use smart charger comes with many industry leading safety features and is compatible with all EV types. In order to reduce e-waste, we have created this product with future upgradability. We hope that you will enjoy using our charger for many years.

This document includes information on plug-in installation, hard-wired installation, mounting instructions and a user manual for EnergizeEV charger(s). Please Read Before Installation

WARNING – When using electric products, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following. This manual contains important instructions for EnergizeEV Residential 32A and 40A Models that shall be followed during installation, operation, and maintenance of the unit.

  • Read all instructions before using this product.
  • This device should be supervised when used around children.
  • Do not put fingers into the electric vehicle connector.
  • Do not use this product if the flexible power cord or EV cable is frayed, has broken insulation, or any other signs of damage.
  • Do not use this product if the enclosure of the EV connector is broken, cracked, RGB LED is missing, open, or shows any other signs of damage.
  • Do not expose the unit to a direct sunlight, with temperatures exceeding -22 to 140 F (-30 to 60 Celsius).
  • CAUTION – To reduce the risk of fire, connect only to a circuit provided with overcurrent protection and per applicable National Installation Codes in Annex A, Ref. 1.
  • The lighting flash with arrowhead within a triangle is intended to indicate the parts inside the product has risk of shock.
  • Not for use in commercial garages where a COMMERCIAL GARAGE is defined as a facility, or portion of a facility, used for the repair of internal combustion engine vehicles, in which the area may be classified due vapors of flammable liquids (gasoline) being present.
  • All EnergizeEV chargers have GFI protection. We recommend installing a non-GFI breaker, in order to prevent false trips.
  • The neutral wire is not used, but may need to be present in the receptacle. Follow applicable National Installation Codes in Annex A, Ref. 1.
  • The unit should not be installed in areas with heavy water exposure, including but not limited to rain, snow and sprinklers. Ethernet cover should remain inserted when used outdoors.
  • Hiring a certified electrician, who follows all local electrical codes is recommended. Wrongful installation can be dangerous. EnergizeEV takes no responsibility for wrongful electrical and hardware installation.
  • Do not remove Activation Key label located near the Ethernet Port on the bottom of the charger.

Plug in Installation Instructions

When hiring a certified electrician, you should request that they install a NEMA 14-50 receptacle, as per the table below (typically a 40A or 50A circuit). Make sure that the receptacle is installed at a close distance to the place where you plan to mount your charging station. The NEMA 14-50 input cable is about two feet long.

Required Materials:

  • Two-pole non-GFI breaker (see table below for breaker rating)
  • NEMA 14-50 receptacle for indoor installation (NEMA 14-50R for outdoor installation)
  • #8 AWG copper wire with three conductors and a ground for a 40A breaker. #6 AWG copper wire with three conductors and a ground for a 50A breaker. Check local code for the exact wire gauge required. Longer distances might require larger gauge wire.

Hardwired Installation Instructions

When hiring a certified electrician, if hard-wired installation is required, ask your electrician to connect the station with a protected, NEMA-compliant junction box at a close distance to the place, where you plan to mount your charging station. The cable is two-feet long.

Required Materials:

  • Two-pole non-GFI breaker (see table to the left for the breaker rating)
  • Junction box (NEMA rated outdoor box for outdoor installation)
  • NEMA 14-50 receptacle for indoor installation (NEMA 14-50R for outdoor installation) #8 AWG copper wire with three conductors and a ground for 40A breaker. #6 AWG copper wire with three conductors and a ground for 50A breaker. Check local code for exact wire gauge required. Longer distances might require larger gauge wire.

What do LED colors on my charger mean?

  • Green LED – Charger is in standby mode and ready to charge
  • Blue LED – Charger is in charging mode
  • Red LED – Charger has detected a fault

 

What does the Ethernet Port on the bottom of the charger do?

  • You have the option of connecting the charger to the internet via the Ethernet cable and checking your charger status online. You must register for new account on our EnergizeEV website. After registration, go to “My Account”, then “Charger Activation”, then input your charger activation code located on the bottom of the charger in the form of QR code and select “Add Product”. Use any free app to read QR code, most modern phones allow to use your phones camera to scan the code.
  • Please note that using the Ethernet port is totally optional. Your charger is still fully functional and awesome, even without the Ethernet.
